As the mercury dips, do you know what’s happening around your dock? In freezing temperatures, a de-icer keeps areas open for ducks, geese, and other waterfowl as well as keeping an open area preventing winter fish kills.
In 1967, Air-O-Lator Corporation developed the original Ice-Away pond de-icer aerator designed to prevent ice formation in marinas and around docks. For 50 years, the Ice-Away has proved to be an efficient, environmentally safe way to protect docks, boats, and piers from ice damage. With a scientifically engineered high-speed propeller, the Ice-Away lifts 500 gallons of water per minute upward to the surface, simultaneously drawing the warmer water from below.
“Our uniquely designed motor mount/diffuser redirects the water flow outward creating a larger area of coverage,” Air-O-Lator President Roy Watkins explains. “The Ice-Away is capable of keeping an 8-foot diameter area of open water for every foot of propeller depth. The average suspended depth is approximately 5 feet up to a maximum of 8 feet.”
The stainless steel Franklin Electric submersible motor is water-cooled and lubricated making it eco-friendly. No seals and bearings make the product easy to maintain and mounting is simple with a single rope using the sling approach.
