This Air-O-Lator Pond Pack is a kit containing three “all natural” products designed to help keep your pond clean.

Each kit includes:
- 12 lbs. (24 – 8 ounce packets) of concentrated aerobic bacteria in a barley straw medium
- 10 lbs. of water clarifier
- 2 – 6 ounce packets of blue dry pond dye in water soluble pouches
This kit is designed to treat a 1/4 acre pond for the whole season (approximately 6 months) or a 1/2 acre pond for 3 months. For larger ponds, you can either treat for a shorter period of time or purchase multiple packs.
How to use Air-O-Lator Pond Pack
The bacteria is designed to break down excess nutrients in the water column and to start consuming excess organic matter on the bottom of your pond. The clarifier ties up excess phosphorous and can help improve water clarity while the concentrated blue dye packets help filter sunlight off of the bottom. The goal of all three products is to give you a clean pond while giving your pond a beautiful blue color.
These three products, when used together, can help keep your pond clean and clear throughout the year. They also work extremely well when combined with bottom diffused aeration (either wind-driven or electric systems). If your pond already has a lot of algae then you can use either Cutrine (liquid or granule) or Green Clean to control it as needed or to start off the season. Making multiple treatments of a commercial algaecide yearly is not recommended. It just kills the algae and letting it sink to the bottom. There it adds to the existing organic matter, making future algae issues worse. Using a combination of products like bacteria, clarifier, pond dye and aeration to help prevent algae is the best long term solution.
What Should You Choose?
To clear or clean your pond, bacteria packs and clarifiers are both useful options. Although clarifiers are effective, using skimmers to remove large debris like leaves and branches can speed up the process. Additionally, choosing the right product for your specific issue is important. For example, muck pellets are designed to target sludge buildup at the bottom of your pond. On the other hand, pond clarifiers can clear up excess phosphorous and soil particles to give you clearer water. Bacteria packs are also effective at eliminating bad bacteria and organic material from both the surface and bottom of the pond, and they typically dissolve within minutes of treatment. Ultimately, selecting the appropriate product for your needs can help you achieve the best results.
Pond Clarifiers
You’ll be able to find pond clarifiers packaged as big as 10 pounds per bucket. This amount should be enough to treat a large pond or even a lake. This product works by tying up excess phosphorous and soil particles in the water. The result will give you clearer water. Since this product’s base is aluminum sulfate and rids the water of soil particles that are suspended, water treatment plants tend to use this alternative with great success.
Bacteria Pack
The bacteria pack is similar to the muck pellets because they work to rid the water of bad bacteria. However, a bacteria pack can work great for both the surface and the bottom of the pond. The product is environmentally friendly and will also work to break down organic material found in your water. Bacteria packs will usually dissolve within five or ten minutes of treating the water.
