What You Need to Know About Submersible Mixers

  • February 19, 2018

Mixing is an essential process in wastewater treatment. There are many applications from storage tanks to oxidation ditches that can aid in the process of keeping water moving and maintaining solids in suspension. Air-O-Lator has been manufacturing submersible wastewater mixers for over 45 years. We manufacture two types of mixers: The Direct Drive mixer and the Gear Reduced drive mixer. These mixers are driven by a submersible Baldor 1800 rpm motor.

The Direct Drive is available in a 3, 5, 7.5 and 10 horsepower. These mixers produce a mixing volume from 2,800 to 5,600 gallons per minute and produce a thrust from 130 to 420 pounds.

The Gear Reduced mixer uses the same Baldor submersible 1800 rpm motor and is coupled to a submersible planetary gear reducer. This configuration reduces the rotation of the propeller from 300 to 430 rpm. This allows the use of submersible large propeller mixers to produce higher volumes and thrust. The Gear Reduced mixer is available in 5, 7.5, 10 and 15 horsepower with mixing volumes from 13,000 gallons per minute up to 21,000 gallons per minute. It produces thrust from 200 to 600 pounds.
